Otomo Yoshishige | 大友 義鎮

Otomo Yoshishige, born in 1530, hailed from a family of shugo, or provincial governors, in Bungo Province.

His was marked by the turbulent political climate of the Sengoku period.

Initially raised as a noble, he was educated in the arts, literature, and military tactics, setting a foundation for his future as a competent leader.

Yoshishige ascended to prominence when he became the ruler of his clan in the mid-1550s.
