About Iida Kakubei

Iida Kakubei was born into a samurai family in Echigo province in 1823.

His lineage can be traced back to the shugo class, which gave him a strong sense of duty and honor from a young age.

Training rigorously in the arts of combat and strategy, he demonstrated his potential early in life, building the skills that would serve him well during tumultuous times.

As Japan moved toward the end of the Edo period, societal unrest and the pressures of modernization began to create new challenges.
